Suppose a California resident who is accepted to Berkeley chooses another school out-of-state (more rigorous one, like Ivy) and after a year or so for some reason wants to transfer back to Cal; what are her chances of succesfully doing so? What are the chances of getting any merit scholarship for such a transfer? If accepted, will she be still considred a resident (if her tuition-paying parents still live in California)?

Chances depend on your grades at the Ivy.

I am not too sure about the merit scholarship...I'm assuming there's a low chance.

And yes, you should be considered a resident if you are still a dependent on your parents.

More rigorous than Cal? Bahahaha

Nobody's going to give you money because you deigned to grace Cal with your presence.

And Ivies are not more rigorous than Cal.

Heavily depends on your reason to transfer. It might be harder to justify a transfer from an Ivy than it is from... a CC.

If you have very good reason for why you want to transfer and if your grades are fine then your chances will probably be pretty good.

Is homesickness a good reason? ;)
