Is it possible to Transfer into a school you attended for Study abroad?

Say you’re from a university in Boston, USA and you did a year at University College London for two terms or one academic year, is it possible to transfer into your abroad prgramme school and finish out your degree there?

UK universities don’t generally take transfers as such. You MIGHT be able to get admission into the second ear at UCL if you’ve done enough courses in your major. Best to contact them and ask.

I’d like to know for Kings college in london

Ask them.

But as English undergrad is all of 3 years, transferring in to second year from overseas is pretty much impossible.

Why not get your degree here and try for grad school there?

Same answer: ask them, with specifics of your case.

Sometimes admitting students wth ‘advanced standing’ is possble but you would have had to covered the equivalent of what the London students had in their first year, remembering that would not have included any gen eds, only courses in the main subject(s) of study. It’s always at the university’s discretion, and I don’t believe it happens at all often.

UCL:“We will consider applications to accredit prior learning at other recognised universities. Advanced standing is only awarded at UCL’s discretion. Please read the notes on applying through UCAS and also enquire with the relevant programme contact provided on the degree pages.”

KCL: "As general guidance, applications for transfer into the second year of a course will only be considered if you meet all of the requirements below:

You meet the standard first year entry requirements for the course (such as A-levels or equivalent)

The same or very similar modules to those on the first year of the course here at King’s were studied in your first year. Please take some time to look at the course on our online prospectus, and see the ‘structure’ section for an idea of content. The content of your current degree needs to be very similar, so please satisfy yourself of your suitability before making a formal request to transfer.

Evidence (in an academic transcript) that your academic performance in the first year of your studies has been at a 2:1/high 2:1 standard.

If you think that you may meet these criteria and would like further guidance on the likelihood of transfer applications being considered for your chosen course, please contact the Admissions Office in the first instance for further information, making sure that you address each of the points above. Please note that should there be more qualified applicants than spaces, the selection process will be competitive."

The link also lists courses they never admit transfers to.
