Is it really hard to get in University of Pennsylvania?

I want to transfer my credits to UPENN, but i heard it's really hard to get in. What do they look for? Their SAT and ACT scores are high. I will be applying for next year, can someone give me suggestion what should i concentrate more in? My GPA is below 3.0 and i am trying hard to make my GPA above 3.0

UPenn accepts approximately 10% of transfer applicants.
I don’t know what the average stats are for successful transfer applicants.
For Fall 2011 freshmen, the average HS GPA was 3.9.
96% ranked in the top 10% of their HS classes; 99% in the top 25%.
Average SATs were 704CR, 726M, 717W. Like other Ivy League colleges, they also look for strong extracurricular achievements (school leadership positions such as newspaper editor or HS class president, varsity sports, music performance, leadership/initiative in community service, etc.)

Unless your name is Shawn Johnson or something, don’t even bother. You will be wasting both money and time.

I don’t work in UPenn admissions so it isn’t as if I can give you a definitive answer, but with a 3.0 you are probably not a candidate with a chance of being accepted. I suggest you spend your time looking for colleges where you are a competitive candidate.

Wharton is like applying to HYPS, from what I’ve experienced. CAS is like applying to Cornell, Dartmouth, Duke, etc.

Answer to OP’s question: of course it’s hard. But then again, easier than HYP.

With a GPA below 3.0, you have ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE of transferring to UPenn. You really need to spend time looking for schools that match your credentials. UPenn is not that school.

Are you perchance confusing UPenn with Penn State?
With a 3.0 you may stand a chance at Penn State (understand it’s not sure you do, I’m assuming they’d prefer 3.5) but you’d be wasting your money applying to UPenn, where countless people with a 4.0 are rejected each year.
