Is it safe to go to a with a past school shooting?

Hi, I recently found out that some of the schools I am applying to have had a school shooting in the past. Will it be safe to go to those colleges? Should I just not apply to them? Some of these are pretty good colleges, so I'm pretty indecisive about this. In addition, how can I avoid going to a university that will have a similar incident?

Those shooters will be long gone by the time you get there. You should be more worried about being hit by a car as that is much more likely than you being at a university with such a rare incident. To date, there are no predictors of where these incidents will take place.

Schools that have had shootings are probably going to be more safe and secure than a school that hasn’t.

You say: “In addition, how can I avoid going to a university that will have a similar incident?”

You can’t. It is impossible to know where it might happen next. You need to get a grip on risk assessment… as someone already said, you have a greater chance getting hit by car while walking to class. You are worrying about something that has a billion times less chance of happening than getting hit by a bus.
