i just took sat for the first time, and don't know if i should sign up to take the june sat also, and then take the sat again next fall.

is it dumb to sign up for the june sat without knowing my may sat scores- or on the other hand, i rlly think i screwed up critical reading and want to go into the summer with solid scores.

I think it depends if you are already totally prepared. If you just had a bad test, and you know you’re capable of getting your desired score, go for it in June. But if you think you can improve your score by studying, wait a couple months until you’re ready. Personally, I still have a lot of studying to do so I’m waiting till August-October to take mine again.

My usual recommendation is to take the May and October tests. You need to get back your results so you can see what you were having trouble with. Take a short break, and then get back to some SAT prep with the knowledge of what you got wrong on the first test. If you got a lot of geometry wrong, spend more time on geometry. If you got level 4 and 5 problems wrong, focus mostly on level 4 problems, etc.

Worst case, you can take the test a third time in November (if necessary) and still be in time for early decision. If this is not your concern you can wait until January.

Most important: Make sure that you have learned SAT specific strategies, and you are using them in your preparation. Don’t take the test like you would take an in class exam.

Thats ridiculous, back to back SAT won’t help your score. You need to wait till you get your scores back from the May test and see how you did. i say wait a good 3-4 months before taking it again. Or at least 2 months so you can give yourself enough time studying.
