Hi. I’m going to be attending a community college this fall, get an Associate’s in science, and transfer to a 4-year university to get a bachelor’s in biology.
Then, I’ll be heading to med school.
Is it too early to be fufilling those med school courses now? Or is that actually what I’m supposed to do?
Thanks for taking the time to read this!
Not too early at all. Get those intro courses out of the way, and do the more advanced ones at your 4 year univ.
Some medical schools frown on taking all of the BCPM (biology, chemistry, physics, math) courses at community colleges. However, if you will be a biology major, you will (a) need to take the usual pre-med BCPM courses early to prepare for upper level biology courses, and (b) take upper level biology courses at a four year school.
Thanks, @collegemom3717 and @ucbalumnus ! That’s really helpful!
I Was thinking the same way myself, so,I’ll definitely do that!
