Hello, Im currently a senior who just got accepted into JHU. I know I want to go to medical school but I am also very interested in their ChemBE major (chemical biomolecular engineering) as well as a spanish minor due to my interest in pursuing a language. I’ve heard both sides, some say that engineering isn’t worth it for medical school and others say that is. I don’t know if this is too much of a load or if its manageable. Any advice? thanks so much!
I didn’t take classes in any of those areas but I can still offer some general advice. My sense is that those who say engineering isn’t worth it for med school are those who don’t actually have any interest in engineering, and are doing BME or ChemBE because they think they’re some sort of glorified pre-med programs. This is not at all the case: if you actually have an interest in engineering (and you claim you do) then everything will take care of itself. As for the minor, you probably won’t take five engineering classes per semester, which means you have to fill the rest of your schedule with something; might as well do something you like.
thanks for your advice!
