Is it too late to apply for the RC?

I'm an admitted freshman for the class of '14 and I didn't indicate it on my app...is it too late?

It looks like the deadline is May 1st: [How do I apply to be in the Residential College? - University of Michigan Residential College](<a href=“Residential College | U-M LSA”>Residential College | U-M LSA)

Just send them an email indicating your interest and they’ll send you the application. It really is a wonderful program…good luck!

thanks…hopefully this works

What is the RC? Is it different then the honors programs? I’m confused…

update: I was just e-mailed back, with a confirmation that I can join. Yay.

I looked up the website and i get it, but like…is it more prestigious or like, what? and do you have to accept admississon to email them to join?

charlieharper, Congrats…the RC really is a great experience!

jackdaniels, The RC isn’t necessarily about prestige, like the Honors program, though you have to apply after being accepted to LSA. (By the way, many RC students are also in Honors and UROP). The RC is more like being in a small LAC, but with having all that the big U has to offer accessible to you. It has small classes, graduation requirements (such as proficiency in a foreign language) and it’s own events like convocation, faculty dinners and graduation in addition to the university-wide ones. My D has found the RC classes and professors to be quite exceptional.

And in answer to whether you have to accept admission to U Mich to apply to the RC, I believe you only need to have been offered admission to LSA. I recall my D applying to the RC after she was accepted to LSA, but she had not made a decision at that time as to which school she would attend.
