When are scholarship applications usually due? Have the due dates passed already for many scholarships? What are some sites with good scholarship information? Just for background information, I have 2400 SAT+ focused EC's (math/science), so I'm looking for both general scholarships and math/science/engineering related scholarships.

Thanks in advance!

Are you asking about private scholarships or are you asking about scholarships from schools?

What is it that you need? Do you need a good amount of money? Are you a citizen?

Tell us your situation. Can your family only pay a limited amount? How much money do you need?

Private scholarships are often for small amounts, are very competitive, and are often for only one year. They also might have a “need” component.

So, while private scholarships may “help” with a few small first year expenses, they won’t likely make an unaffordable college affordable since they’re usually only for one year.

If you need large merit scholarships then you need to apply to the schools that give them. Many of those deadlines are within a few weeks.

Many deadlines are approaching. There isn’t one set deadline. Some deadlines are after the new year.

The best ssearch site for private scholarships (other than what is provided by the government or colleges) is [Fastweb : Scholarships, Financial Aid, Student Loans and Colleges](http://www.fastweb.com). You type in your info and then they list various scholarships and deadlines. Even if 80% are not applicable, that still leaves many opportunities, particularly for someone with top qualifications.

Each college as their own deadlines for financial aid application submittals. They may be as early as Nov. 15 or may be much later. Typically, they will accept applications after their “priority” deadline, but they start to run out of money.

Read the financial aid website of each college for the details.

Fafsa and state financial aid forms typically cannot be filled out until after Jan. 1. Many colleges want those forms submitted by Feb. 1 or Feb. 15th. You can submit estimated data and then come back and revise it later.

If you need merit scholarships from the colleges themselves, which is where most of the money it, you’d better start looking. Many colleges have EA/scholarship deadlines on the 15th or December 1st, IIRC.
As far as need-based aid goes, there’s much less of a hurry. FAFSA deadlines are in Jan/Feb, and there’s no early application deadline for need-based aid.
As far as private scholarships go… their deadlines are all over the place. I’ve seen ones due in October, and ones due in April. Talk to your high school guidance counselor- they’ll probably have a basic list of local scholarships which you can consult.
