Is it too late to join a sport?

I'm entering my sophomore year in September and I'm wondering if it's too late to join Varsity Track. My school doesn't offer Junior Varsity track or modified track for High school students. Our track team has ~30 people.

It’s never too late if you can compete.

Definitely not too late to give it a try. Track is one of those things some people have a natural talent, too. I say go for it.

Absolutely not; go for it! A guy at my school joined our varsity swim team as a junior, no competitive swimming experience whatsoever, and this year as a senior he was a member of a school-record-setting relay team. If you want to do track, do it!

If you’re good, then do it.

There’s no harm in trying it! You can also run on your own time before the season starts to be in shape. Track is an individual sport (for the most part), so you can do a lot of extra training on your own if you really want to succeed.

Definitely not. Track usually has more openings than people, so they will surely find something that you can do to help the team score points. There are strength events, running events (distance) and speed events (sprinting). Something for everyone. Go for it!
