Is it too late?

I'll be a senior this year when school starts late August. I don't have any volunteer experience, so would it be too late if I started now and wanted to get in a decent about before November (which is the earliest date some of my college applications will need to be in)? I was wanting to volunteer at a local hospital. Also, what is a decent amount of hours and what is preferred?

These are the better colleges I'll be applying to if it helps:

College of Wooster
Case Western Reserve University
University of Chicago

And there's a few other schools but they're safeties so I'm not worried as much about them

Thanks in advance :]

Since this is an important election year, you might try to volunteer in one of the local campaign. You will sure gain a lot experience from that.

Generally colleges like to see some sort of dedication to your volunteering, so the longer you do it for, the better it looks. However, a couple of months is better than nothing, and volunteering at a hospital can give you some valuable experience, especially if you’re thinking of going into the medial profession. There are always other places you can volunteer too, however, depending on your interests. You can go to [VolunteerMatch - Where Volunteering Begins](http://www.volunteermatch.org) and search for volunteer opportunities in your area. It’s pretty good. :)
