Is it too much to take 18 credits of classes on 1st semester of sophomore year?

Hello,

I’m an upcoming sophomore at the school of Gold and Black. I have already signed up for my classes for next semester, but I’m wondering if this is too much for me.

I’ve signed up for the following classes that add up to 18 credits:

  1. Intro. to Literary Criticisms (3 hours)
  2. Beginner's Chinese II (5 hours)
  3. Organic Chemistry and its lab (4 hours)
  4. Intro. to Sociology (3 hours)
  5. General Psychology (3 hours)

*In my school, 18 credit is the borderline for overload, like most of the other schools.

*My cumulative GPA is 3.71 so far, and I didn’t really push myself on my freshman year, having taken 31 credits, to which 15 credits 1st semester and 16 credits 2nd.

Any advice would help!

Organic Chemistry can be a lot of work. Can you drop one of the classes during the semester if you feel overwhelmed? Then you can keep the 18 credits but have an “out” just in case.
