Is it true USC doesn't accept summer classes as transfers?

I heard that USC doesn't accept classes taken over the summer. is this true?

I believe they do, but they will not transfer over units from summer classes to fulfill GE requirements. once you’re enrolled at USC, you have to take the GE reqs there.

They accept some summer school credits from outside institutions but you must get preapproval to assure they will transfer. The school only accepts colleges with a certain standing in many cases(i.e. community college may not suffice)…Our son is taking a few courses in NC but it took probably 16 hours plus of leg work to get them approved. Also, they are not GEd credits as previously noted by another poster.

All of my classes transferred from my out of state CC including summer courses. This was without any sort of preapproval. When you apply they’ll ask you to scan the course catalog of your previous school so they can see class descriptions though.

If you’re asking about taking summer classes elsewhere AFTER you matriculate at usc, this can be done but does in fact require approval.

At orientation this week, they made a similar points to Kulakai’s. There is definitely a difference before and after matriculation. Before matriculation could credit towards GE requirements, after cannot at all. Non-GE classes afterwards depends and you should seek pre-approval.

How about recommmended major prerequsites taken over the summer? Need pre-approval? I’m entering USC as a transfer in the fall.

I’m not sure on that one. You would need to speak to the transfer admissions rep for your region or call the admissions office to know for sure unless someone else knows here.
