I am so excited about transferring in as a sophomore for Fall 2013. I am looking at classes and it looks like many of them are already filled. The GE classes looked maxed out.
It was super challenging getting the right classes at cc but I thought that getting classes at USC would not be such a hassle.
Does anyone have any information about how hard it is for transfers to get classes during the first semester? Are there places being held for transfers since none of us have registered yet?
Thanks!

Registration for GE classes during the summer (quick response)

Many of the GE class spots are reserved right now because of the freshman orientations going on during the summer. During each orientation session, new spots are released in some GE classes. This allows students in later orientation sessions (where you register for classes) to have access to GEs (instead of the earliest sessions getting all the spots for the in-demand GE’s). There will be space in the GE classes-- maybe not the specific one you had in mind (if it is very popular for one reason or another), but there will be room in a GE in that category.

Also, upperclassmen have already registered for the fall term.

Spring 2014 registration won’t be as complicated for you.

camomof3,
Thank you! That makes me feel much better. I could not believe that so many classes were already filled.

Also, during the add/drop period (first 3 weeks of each Fall/Spring), many people will drop opening up spots in those classes that you may not be able to get otherwise.

Getting classes is far easier at USC than most places. It helps to be well organized, punctual and flexible, but USC will give you every opportunity to graduate on schedule.
