is it true?

I have been told by many that a graduate from Kings Point will be making six figures upon graduation. Is this true?

It certainly can be.

My first job two weeks after graduation paid right at 10,000 a month. Now remember, you will likely only sail for about half the year or so and have the other half as vacation so would likely only make around 60,000 for the year, but if you sail more you make more.

Some of the current sailing jobs being offered to graduating seniors are paying anywhere from 90k-120k a year. The higher paying jobs generally require you to be out to sea more. Most likely if you’re shipping out and making 100k+ you are working 8+ months per year.

I knew a few graduates who went to work on oil rigs off the coast of South America - the hours were brutal - and they spent months out there at a time. On the other hand they made more than $120K. Also keep in mind that they don’t spend a dime while they are out at sea. Both did it for two years then activated their commissions in the Navy - Guys with $$$$ in the bank and a nice nest egg started.
