Is it usually harder to get into an engineering school that it's university?

For example, how much harder would it be to get into UC Riverside Engineering than UC Riverside as a biology major?

Mostly it is a little bit competitive for engg and some colleges might require subjects tests.

It really depends on the school. At a lot of schools, while the engineering school may have higher test scores on average, they actually have a higher acceptance rate than the general college.

For the UCs some majors will also be impacted and harder to gain entrance.

Yeah it totally depends on the school. Some, like Cal Poly SLO are highly impacted. While others, like UCSC are not.
