We filed the FAFSA on January 1st.

It's not showing up on ANY of the portals for the colleges my D has applied to. It's still listed as "missing". We did get a confirmation from FAFSA on January 2nd saying it had been processed successfully. Does it just take 4 weeks to get to the schools? Or for the schools to process and update their portal lists? (It's weird, though, because other items, like the CSS Profile, got noted in the portals within a week of submission.)

I don't want to needlessly bother the admissions offices, but I also don't want her FAFSA to get lost. She needs aid!
Any thoughts?

I was afraid that it was just mine that were showing up as missing. I too have a confirmation from when I submitted but it doesn’t show up in any of my lists. CSS Profile showed up the next day.

I went to a college visit on Friday and the head of admissions said that they expect to start getting the downloads from FAFSA during the first week of Feb. and he said they get about 2 per week. I took that to mean there is nothing we can do, just wait for them to send the financial aid packages after the school gets the download.

He also indicated there are still major problems with the common app. He said the problems with inputting the data were fixed but the schools are still having issues pulling the information off the system.

For what it’s worth, the FAFSA just showed up on one of the college’s portals. So apparently it just takes that long sometimes! It’s been almost a full month!
