Is it wise to put in architecture drawings and models in portfolio to apply for college?

Hi! I am an international student from Hong Kong, currently thinking about applying to Rice university for architecture.
As mentioned, I would like to know whether it is wise to put in architecture drawings and models in my portfolio or not? Well personally i have got quite a lot of hand made models so as building draft, designs etc, but then is it wise to include them? Some people said its no good but i am not sure why?

I would also like to know whats the main focus for a portfolio. Personally i also got quite a lot of AI illustration, are them useful? or hand drawings are preferred instead? Shall i also include my design notions etc?

Thanks!

At nearly every school the portfolio is wide open. You can almost literally include anything you want as long as you think it reflects positively on you. I would say include everything you mentioned. I included not only architectural models and drawings, but also a parody rap video and got in at all but one school.
