Is it wise to submit multiple SSAT scores?

My daughter got a good score 92% on her SSAT in Nov test. She has taken the Dec test and waiting to get the score back.

She was thinking of submitting both score as long as the Dec score is higher than 92%. Her primary reason is that she liked her essay writing better for the Nov.

My question is whether it is wise to send both. Should she just send the best score? Or should she send both if score is the same? Will it be viewed negatively if she submit both scores irrespective of how she fared on either? Thanks.

Just send the highest score. 92% is a great score, and personally I wouldn’t have had her bother to take it again as it doesn’t make much difference what the score is once you’re in the 90s. But since she’s already done it, no reason not to submit the December score instead of it’s higher. As for the essay, I think most schools don’t pay too much attention to it. At most, I think it’s somewhat of a check for them on whether the application essay seems like it was written by the applicant, and not helped too much by a parent or counselor.

I agree with soxmom on sending the best one and essay not being important.
It would not hurt to send both either. They will just look at the highest scores.

There are several subsections within the SSAT: verbal, math, reading. If she scores higher on all 3 subsections and the composite then send only the date with the highest score.

If one of the subsections is higher in the Nov test then send both sets. Schools do their own super scoring by subsection. There is no way they can do this with only one set of scores.

Having said all of this, a score in the low 90s is good enough for all schools. Once you are above this threshold other factors in your application are more important.

Based on what I gather from earlier threads, it seems higher scores would help tremendously with securing FA and/or merit based scholarship. That was one reason we decided to try it again a second time. The Jan test would have given her more time to practice but that is really out of option since her EC activity ramps up dramatically comes the new year.

Thank you all for the sound advice. We have so much to learn about applying to these schools.

Who gives merit based scholarships?

A few schools have merit based scholarships. I think SPS has a program and Kent does. There have been threads on here before about them.

Mercersburg does and I think Peddie does too.

I can’t remember exactly which schools, but I think some super score?
