I was rejected from Mechanical and Chemical engineering but waitlisted for Management. I have a 1950 SAT and a 30 ACT. My current weighted GPA is 4.4480.

In the beginning of my senior year, I noticed that my health has been declining. After several trips to the hospital, I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. At this point, I started to feel depressed with myself and my grades started to decline.

Is it worth to even try appealing? I heard that the success rates of appeals are very slim. And if I do appeal, should I mention my condition and how it has affected me since McGill mostly looks into your Junior and Senior year? Should I also mention that my father graduated from McGill with cum laude?

Mentioning your father won’t do anything (unless he’s a generous contributor to the Liberal party of Canada, but if he was they’d already know that). But medical reasons for decline in grades may help you. If you appeal, the worse that can happen is you lose the 40 bucks spent on it.

I agree, I would appeal. But at the same time, I would begin making an alternative plan. Good luck with the appeal AND with the waitlist for Management!

I guess it can’t hurt to try and appeal. I plan on writing a separate letter to admissions for my waitlist about how McGill is my first choice and that I will be able to pay the full tuition without a problem (my parents have already saved enough money for me to go to McGill for 4 years).
