YES! Give it a try. You are much closer to getting in than most of America, haha!
You’ll most likely get into Cornell and UPenn, if not the others.
^ Again, no one can predict. It’s misleading and not informed about the nature of the competition and what colleges seek.
OP, you haunt their sites, info about them, the sorts of students they tout, what they’re involved with, not just academically. And more. And even perfect leaves you open to institutional needs like balancing majors and geo diversity.
Are you a junior? I’m confused because you talk about essays. If you’re a junior you’ve already written your college essays?
@suzyQ7 I am ajunior and I’ve started writing/brainstorming with my parents and teachers about what I want to write about and stuff like that
I could understand mentioning Cornell because people think it is overall the easiest ivy to get in (based on admit rate, scores, HS class rank distribution), but why Penn? There are quite a few other ivies and ivy-equivalents that are overall a bit easier or more or less similarly hard to get in based on these metrics (admit rate, class rank, scores). Also if OP applies to Cornell engineering, which is arguably the best engineering program in the ivy league, then it gets even more competitive.
All the ivies routinely reject candidates with OPs profile every year. There is no way you can predict admission to an ivy with high likelihood unless the candidate is a prodigy or majorly hooked.
@Penn95 yeah that’s true!
What do people say about ED financial aid, i heard that you get scummed because they know you are passionate about the school anf stuff
I would say not by reputable schools in general, and not by meet 100% need schools in particular. You can still decline an ED acceptance if the FA offer is not workable. The two dozen or so schools that I personally interacted with all stated that the FA award would be the same across EA, ED, ED2, or RD.
Ohh that makes more sense, @dscottvb , if I were to contact the admission office would they tell me, or would I be able to find it online?
Need blind means need blind. Did you run NPCs?
@lookingforward , Im saying that IF accepted early decision the financial aid, like merit aid and that sort of thing, is LESS than if you were accepted EA or RD because the college knows you are passionate about it and want to go there
Did you run the NPCs?
FA is FA. At a Need Blind, they dont review your need in the admit decision. At a Meet Full Need college, they calculate your need, per their formula, period. No silly jerking around ED kids.
You knew that, right?
And this thread refers to Ivies, which offer no merit. For that you need to refer to college policies. From them, not what you “heard” somewhere.
You know the Ivies are both NB and MFN, right? And how aid works?
@Arithmetix lmao just kidding, u definitely should apply to ivies cause you have a really good shot…i strive to be a student like u lol
@lookingforward i think we are on a different page hahahahah nevermind i called the offices and got my answer. sorry to be confusing lol
@Arithmetix Some schools put that info right on the website:

Check the answer to the 10th question.
@dscottvb thanks!
Certainly apply, while your AP scores and ACT scores are probably in the upper quartile of applicants, your internship will certainly set you apart from the vast majority of those with similar academic resumés. My Aunt is a reader for Harvard, and she says that they primarily look for people who already have an idea of what they want to do and actively pursue it. If you are seeking to pursue a career in political sciences, law, or another similar field then that internship will certainly make you exponentially more interesting. However, if you are going into another field, it won’t really help that much. I’m fairly confident that with your grades and extra-circulars, you’ll break into the top 20 of schools, but the Ivy’s are such a toss up that it’s really hard to predict your chances. Good luck!
@BingBong284 I do want to pursue a career in politics and government! Specifically the foreign service for the state department (if its even still there by the time I graduate) habahaa. Thank you for your kind words, I’ll continue working hard!
What do yall think of BC?
