I will probably end up attending a rank ~30 college this september as a freshman. If I am also planning to attend law school or business school in the future, is it worth it for me to try to transfer to a school like penn or cornell after 2 years of undergrad?

Because if I end up attending graduate school, it is the reputation of the graduate school that will determine the type of job I get in the future.

It’s not worth it unless u don’t like your school. You go to a rank ~30 university and I beleive the reputation of your university will be good enough for any law school or business school. Another reason is when you will stay at one university, you will know your professors better if u are lucky you can help them with their research and it will look very good on your application for grad school. Moreover, you can have a leadership in some clubs…

This seems to be another common misconception, if I don’t go to a top rank undergraduate school, then I won’t be able to get into a tier one graduate program. I can tell you that this is not true. I am currently at a 5th or 6th (probably lower) tier school and every year my school sends a couple of students to top graduate programs around the country. Most of them enter the job field and end up having there company pay for grad school. I would just stick with your school and do really really well. You should have no problem getting into a good program if you are active on campus and have a respectable GPA.
