Will Transferring Hurt Hopes?

I am currently at a solid undergrad school for business, ranked in the top 30 for business (even though I hate simply determining the value of a school by a number). However, things have not been so smooth. My family and I will be paying around 40k a year, something I dont want to do nor burden my parents with. Also, I have found myself becoming increasingly unhappy here.
Recently I began thinking of transferring to another school, one that is much more affordable (20k less per year), and I have lots of friends going there so I know I will be happier there. But this school is ranked much lower than my current one.

My long time goal has been to attend a top law/business grad school. So my question is, will transferring to another school with less prestige significantly hurt my chances of getting into a top grad school, even if I were to get a solid GPA and LSAT/GMAT score?

I also thought that your chances of getting into a top business school depended more on your work experience and GMAT scores. Of course the school you attend could have an impact on what kind of job you can get.

As for grad school I don't think your choice of school would matter significantly. There are always people even from podunk state schools who get into top grad schools.

I go to a very solid national university but I had to take a year-long leave of absence to help fix some financial issues at the time during sophmore year. The school I spent sophmore year at was far from the level of my current school but I don't think it will hurt me. I did very well during sophmore year and had an earnest reason to go there that will be fully explained. Just do well wherever you go and you will be fine.
