I have applied to 3 different schools, some more than once, getting into 2 of the 3. I am now a sophomore at my public high school and I'm interested in some private schools here. I still would like to apply to a few more (this would be my last year doing so) and I wanted to see your opinions on is it worth it. The only reason I havent been able to go in the past is because of finances. Where I am currently, I can get a full ride to a in state, not so great, school. So it is worth it to spend my college money on prep school and then go back in-state, or stay in public school and get a better chance (financially speaking) to go to a better college?

Thanks!

college?.. Wrong section

not college. did you read the whole post…? discussing prep school AND college

I must have read it wrong, sorry.

I haven’t applied yet, but I’d imagine it’s always worth a try. If money is that much of a problem, apply to schools with higher financial aid endowments.

I’d say spend what money you have on prep school and go to a better college, where you will probably get a better education to get a better job & make more money - easily repaying the money you spent on prep school. (That’s what I’m doing, haha.) KNOWLEDGE IS POWER! :D

Disclaimer: of course getting a high paying job isn’t the reason to go to a good boarding school, but this thread is about finances, therefore I’m looking at the situation from a financial perspective.
