Would it be worth it to send a midterm report in my case?
I’m a prospective sophomore, applying for transfer admission. I had a 3.9 last semester (3 As, 1 A-), but this semester has been more of a struggle; my report will calculate out to a 3.57 (2 As, 1 B+, 1 B). Would it be worth submitting it to colleges to give them more data points and to show that I’m not screwing around (I’m really not; science is not my strong suit - my B+ - and I’m in a particularly hard economics course - the B). Or, should I refrain from doing so because only one of the colleges I’m applying to requires (or even recommends) submitting one and the grades are a bit of a drop from the prior semester.
Please advise.
Bump. Please help - my window for submitting it is closing rapidly.
How are your high school grades? If you feel as though they’re strong, and the college in question doesn’t require a mid term report, then don’t send one.
Truthfully, as a sophomore, your high school record will be looked at in any case, good or bad, so if you think your college record is a better representation of your hard work, then do send it. I don’t see it hurting your overall chances if you’re taking difficult courses(bonus points if you study at a particularly selective college).
I’m also a prospective sophomore, and I sent my mid-term report to every college I applied to, including the ones that didn’t require it. My high school grades left a lot to be desired for plenty of reasons, so I felt it was the best course of action given my circumstances.
@AGoodFloridian Thank you for your response! I sent the report because it actually ended up being better than I expected (my science - psychology - grade was actually an A-). I figured that since 7 out of the 8 grades the colleges would be seeing had an A in them it couldn’t hurt me (in high school, I got almost exclusively grades beginning with B)
