I am sophomore at FSU and I really hate it here. I tried really hard to like it here, but I really don't. The school isn't giving me what I want academically or well anything else. The only reason I go here is because it is free, with non transferable scholarships. My parents don't want me to go far away, but I think it is really the money.
I found the perfect school in colorado, where I have intended to move since I was about 10 and they have everything I want. It is like my dream school. But my parents won't pay for it, and said it was stupid to give up a free education. I completely understand where they are coming from, but isn't college supposed to be the best time of my life? And is it worth it to possibly go into debt, just to finish the last two years of college at a different school? Does anyone have an opinion? I really want to transfer, but it doesn't really make any logical sense. Has anyone been through this before?

sounds like you really want to do it, probably no one can answer that question except for you, since it's not a "will it pay off to go into debt to attend this more prestigious school" question.

Would you qualify for aid?

And, your parents won't help with their portion of the EFC?

My parents make to much money for me to qualify for anything but loans. They won't help me out with any of the tuition because they don't have to now. I am applying for all the private scholarships I can on fastweb. Do you know of any other good ways to raise money?

You could get a job.

I have a job, and I have a good chunk of change saved up, but it barely dents the cost of tuition. But thanks for the suggestion

If you work for bank of america they will help with your tuition. Maybe look for an employer that will help you pay for school too.

Maybe I can help. What about FSU isn't working for you?

Send me a PM if this is not something you want to post.

have you looked into financial aid at the school you want to transfer to? do they offer it for transfers?
