Im considering cc's.There are a couple cc's in my state with dorms. I would love to go away for that "college feel" & I feel like I'd work better in that environment vs the one I have at home, which isn't too great. Is it worth taking out extra loans for if pell grants dont pay for it?Should I suck it up, stay at home and attend my local cc?

No, it isn’t worth taking out loans just so you can live in a dorm. Save those loans for when you really need them in order to finish your degree. Learn to do your work in the college library instead of at home so that you escape the distractions.

totally agree…dorms are quite an experience, but you will def be distracted.
the library and honors room was my dorm haha

Remember that not all dorm experiences are positive ones. Definitely not worth loans!

I’m currently living in a dorm while attending a CC. I’m only doing it to finish out the year in this state before moving to another with my parents. It’s a great experience, and if it’s financially easy for you to do, then I would say go for it. I feel like I’ve matured rapidly and really opened my eyes to new experiences. If, however, you would have to take out loans or it would be difficult money wise, it’s not worth it.
Just my $0.02
