Is it worth taking ACT After 2350 SAT (750 CR 800 M/W)?

Hey guys so I took the December 2013 SAT and got 750 800 800 and although they say that to be competitive for top schools you need 750+ in all subsections, that 750 in critical reading has always made me feel a little bit on edge. I'm Indian (like with the dot) so I know that I won't have an easy time during applications and I've been considering taking the ACT and most likely getting a 36 (if not, it'll just be 35 fo sho). That should equate then to 2400 and cover up my 750 f-up (even though I only missed 3 questions OTL). Do y'all think it's worth it for me to take the ACT (Sept date)?

No! I think you can be relieved with standardized tests now. Taking any other tests (well, except SAT Subject tests) now is just a waste of time. I suggest you should focus more on the other parts of your application: ECs, Essays,…

^Exactly!

Sodium hypobromite.

Stop now. Go volunteer somewhere instead.

One of those threads that make me question the state of our education. People wasting 4+ hrs and 40 valuable dollars just to get 1-2 more questions correct.

that’s if you’d get them right, to get them correct, you’d need to put in ~30 hours and luck for the last 50 points and even then, it’d be risky. what if you made a math error… a writing mistake…and it puts u in 2200s… crap!

NO!

Is this a real question or you just wanted to share with everyone your 2350?
If it was just sharing, Congratulations and good luck in your future endeavors.
If it’s a real question, This is not what SAT or ACT testing is about. Once you cross a certain threshold, its all the same. Don’t be surprised if you take SAT again (not ACT) and score 2310 or even worse 2390 and then have sleepless nights over that one question.

Lolol guys I am not trying to brag here. Why would I try to show how “cool” I am to people I don’t know and will never see? And also I wasn’t asking about retaking SAT, just whether I should take ACT. But thank for all your input!!

As one guy said above… don’t be that person who spends a handful of money just to get those extra 50 points, THAT you might not even get or might score lower…

@ChakNorris‌ - I think we all misunderstood your question. Nevertheless, there are very few (possibly even none) colleges that will only accept the ACT as opposed to the SAT. So, don’t take the ACT.

Hope this answers your question! Congrats on the 2350! :)

I agree with Sanwal. My bio teacher took his Sat 3 times after getting a 1570/1600 the first time. His score stayed the same and it drove him crazy.

I actually had this exact situation (except my 750 was in Math). While I understood that I didn’t have to take the ACT, I did anyway. The reason I did this is because some schools required EITHER SAT + 2 SATIIs or ACT+W. I wasn’t sure of my SAT2s and decided to take the ACT+W as a backup. I ended up with a 35. In the end it all worked out with my SAT2s, but I was still much more confident in the SAT2 tests because of the ACT backup score.

If you would also feel more confident with a great ACT score going into your SAT 2s, then by all means take the ACT as a backup plan. You can send the one you feel better about. If the SAT 2s are not an issue and you simply want to make up for the 50 points you lost on the SAT, take a chill pill.

Hope that helps! :)
