I know that there is a place where someone can offer some help on my essays(i'm not even sure if they can really help) Do you think it's worth to spend the $ to get someone who can (possibly) help me???

By the way,do you guys just do your essay by yourself?(of course you do,but, did someone give you some suggestion or help?)

You can go to the library or bookstore and get a book on essay writing, or you can ask a teacher to review your essay, but when you submit an application to a school you are affirming, among other things, that the essay is your own work, so it is not permissible to pay someone to write it for you.

Depending on your situation, it might be.

The quality of writing instruction in high school is often pretty bad, this means the teachers aren’t necessarily great writers.

So unless you have access to someone that really knows what they are talking about (friend, family friend ect…), the essay editing companies may be offering a service that is useful to you. The people working for these companies are in some sense adcoms themselves given the immense volume of essays they see through their job.

Also I would hesitate to say the service is unethical if the company is legitimate and is offering more of a “writing tutor” service rather than a “re-write your essay” service.

I know of a good place that you can go for this sort of thing. If you’re interested, send me a pm.

I know a place where you can get help on your essays: here! I don’t know how helpful other CCers are, but I know that when someone PMs me an essay, I give a ton of constructive feedback, and all of the people I helped (a handful so far) send me subsequent drafts to critique. Now, if you find a few people to give really solid feedback on CC, and you have parents and an english teacher look over it, you should be set. If you want to do this, I recommend not starting a thread on this subforum, but in college admissions or specific college subforums; this thread is littered with people–your competitors, as it were–who need inspiration and will read dozens of other essays, offering limited or no feedback.
