Is JMU worth it ? IMPORTANT

Hello everyone

I hope this discussion finds you all in good health and even beetr spirits.

I am an international student and have been accepted from JMU in the business program and aim to major in finance.
Because i would be spending a decent amount of money around (37k$) per year, therefore i would appreciate the help of every individual affiliated to this uni.

My major concerns are, are the job opportunities good once you graduate from JMU? is the JMU business school prestigious and ranked high among the employees and other universities.?
2) Do they offer any co-op program? do students opt for this option during the second or third year of their undergradute education? if yes, how much can i earn per co-op?
3) Are there any part time jobs available? so i can work while i study to lessen my financial burdens.

This is a big decision for me therefore your opinion can make me opt for a wise choice.
Looking forward.

Hi,

I was also accepted into the business program but want to major in management. I can’t really tell you much because I am out-of-state. Their program is good but could be better, like everyone else. As a public university in America, it isn’t too bad though. If it was, I wouldn’t have applied!

From my visits and talking with others it seems like they really sell their employed students and countless internships. I would say a good internship is something you can count on! Students regularly get paid and unpaid internships which have a record of leading to job offers. Every other school boasts this too, of course. I haven’t actually been a student there so I don’t know how valid these are or if the comparison is substantially in JMU’s favor

They seem to have a decent amount of work-study efforts throughout the campus and there are plenty places for jobs around the campus itself with shopping centers walking distance.

I know the financial burden is a lot. JMU is a one of my top choices and my only out-of-state, so I am struggling to find ways to overlook the price tag. Best wishes in deciding! Maybe I will be in some of your classes!

I just checked. According to businessweek.com’s ranking’s JMU’s undergraduate program is ranked 29th in the nation. I think that is pretty great for a university such as JMU.

My other top choice which is closer to home, cheaper, and what I grew up cheering for (TAR HEEL BORN AND BRED!) is ranked 10th. I haven’t been accepted there yet, but JMU is giving them a fair fight. So, I think JMU is worth it.

Thanks a lot cassidyalysse. I really appreciate that,
Update: i have been accepted from Northeastern University.
Now confused; either JMU or Northeastern
