Thanks so much! To answer your question, the reason I’m taking the AP science classes is because I was fortunate enough to have been able to take these classes for no credit at a local college so I feel that I would be more prepared for them in the schoolyear and also because I am really interested in science. :)

From what I have heard, average GPA for John’s Hopkins is 3.8 or so. 2090 is average SAT score. So I guess you are in range, but if you’re taking SAT/subject tests again that is probably a good thing.

Unfortunately like you said for me (darn), your ECs alone are not too special so you’ll have to show how meaningful they are to you. Out of curiosity what major(s) are you looking at and what other colleges might you be considering?

Thanks for chancing me earlier :D

Np! Thanks for chancing me, as well! I’m hoping to pursue a science-related major and I am really hoping to move on to med school after my undergrad education is complete. Some of the other schools I’m considering are a few other reaches with similar acceptance rates, and quite a few safeties/realistic schools like Lafayette or Villanova or Drexel.

You seem to have the right grades, so maybe try the ACT? It’s achievement rather than aptitude based and a lot of kids with good grades who may not be the best standardized test takers do well on it. Applying ED is definitely a good idea. I think as long as you can get your scores up and write a fantastic essay you have a shot.

Not sure where all these posters are getting their inflated chance percentages. I interview for Hopkins, and I’ve seen countless Valedictorians with high SATs turned away. It comes down to essays and stats. You really need to raise those grades and test scores. Hopkins isn’t a match for anyone - unless you were an intel finalist or IMO qualifier. Honestly, no one on here is qualified to tell you your changes. I can only tell you you’re academically out of the range right now.

See here for the profile of admitted students:

Average SAT of enrolled students is over 2100. Admitted is higher. A school that admits 17% from an applicant pool with high test scores, rank, GPA, and outstanding extracurriculars isn’t a “high match” for anyone unless you’ve won one of the national awards I alluded to earlier.
