English is my best subject, high 90s every year, and I feel confident in reading comprehension. I'm just worried because every time one of my friends goes into that test, and their english grades in school are just as high as mine, they come out traumatized with low marks.

Soooo is it really as bad as they make it sound? I'm taking AP lit this year (i'm a rising senior) and for the past 3 years i've taken honors english.

if anyone here has taken it and can let me know how it really is, i'd be really grateful =]

Did you take the SAT or ACT? How did you do on the reading sections? If you didn’t do really well (nearly perfect scores), then it will probably be pretty difficult. The best way to get an idea of how tough it is is by taking a released test from the College Board book with all the subject tests. It is generally considered the hardest SAT II, but if you read a lot and have read lots of difficult literature then you might do pretty well.

If you are strong in English (which you said you are) you will probably be fine. That said, do not walk into the testing without having taken practice tests. I got a 630 on my first practice test, which I wasn’t happy with at all. I ended up doing about 8 practice tests and scored a 750 on the real thing (I know some people would not be satisfied with that but I am). When I took the real thing, I was very comfortable with the time limit and types of questions after taking so many practice ones.

I scored a 780 CR. I scored around a 650 on the practice Lit exam I took.

I decided to go with Latin. That Lit exam scares me.

I got 740 CR and 770 on lit. For me, as an avid reader, it wasn’t that bad-- I think years of reading helped me more than the studying did. I would maybe do a few practice questions on the collegeboard website and see how you score. It really seems to vary from person to person; my best friend, who also reads like it’s her job, got in the 500s.
