SAT LIT!!!!! the good vs the bad...MAJOR DILEMNA

Ok so i've heard two different things about the SAT II Lit test.
First i've heard it's similar to CR in SAT I.
And second is i've heard it's the hardest subject test out of all of them.

I was actually considering SAT Lit, (didn't register but would take it this sat) but i don't have any books, nothing....it was just basically like "maybe i should take SAT Lit because it's like CR..." until i heard it was the hardest test there was. So I've just been practicing Bio and Math IIC, and today my bf came over with his SAT Lit book to study. And i looked through it and 'just for fun' he thought it would be cool if i tried the practice test. So i took it, and got 800. Without reading anything from the practice books or anything...and i thought it was actually pretty straight-forward and easy...

So my question is this: Should I reconsider taking the SAT Lit test in 4 days..and prepare for it till then, or just consider the practice test as being lucky...since how can it be so easy for me...if it's considered the hardest test? there must be something i'm missing here right? Btw the practice test was from the Kaplan SAt Lit book.

The Lit test seems to be one of those tests that people are either good at or not. If you already know common literary terms (like allegory, for example), there really isn't much you can do to study for it. If you're good at interpreting literature, go for it. An 800 on a practice test is a very good sign. I got an 800 with no preparation (except, of course, good English teachers throughout hs). It is not a hard test for people who have strong CR skills.

Do you have the Official book for Subject test? If you do, try that one and see for real. I would suggest you to take it if you are comfortable. Everybody is different, on this board people think Math Subject test is easier to get 800 which is not what my D experienced.

haah thanks. yes i already know the literary terms, learned them in 8th grade but revision should suffice

I got an 800 on Lit with no prep. If you're doing well on practice tests, then I say go for it.

i think you should definitely take it. i have kaplan's sat lit book and i'd say the practice tests are pretty indicative of the actual thing, and the scores i got were predictive of my actual score.

i agree that some people are just naturally more skilled with the literary analysis that the test requires. i, for example, am not one of those people, so i was thrilled to even get a 700. on the other hand, there are others i know who didn't prepare at all and got 780's or above. my guess is you probably fall into the latter category... so definitely take it!

I can't believe how many 800 Lits come on this board o__o ... you'd think it was a really easy test from the number of perfect scores.

I just took a practice and got 770, a REALLY good score for me. lol I don't have much to say, I'm just really excited. It seems most of it is just answering all the questions, at least for me.

Kaplan's test though, is this realistic?

i hope it is! i just took it yesterday...it was pretty straightforward...didn't really have any problems with it so just hope for the scoresss!!!!!

is barron's a realistic test? just wondering...
