I was just wondering if it is a good/useful major, especially when applying to Med schools? What are the disadvantages?

It’s just as good as any other major; med schools just don’t care much about major. The point being that any major can get you to med school as long as you earn mostly A’s in the prereqs, as well as beef up the medical-related ECs.

If you like neuro, go for it. If you like it, you can probably become involved in on campus research.

One downside is that Neuro tends to be one of the majors with lotsa requirements, moreso than many others. Thus, it can limit your electives (and chances for easy classes and A’s).

^^ What BB said. D2 graduated as a neuro major from a Top 30 research U this past spring.

All med school pre-reqs were covered by major requirements and she did get the opportunity to get involve in on-campus research.

But, neuro really does have more requirements than any other major except engineering. (At her school, it also required more math than a bio degree and had more required lab courses.)

i was a neuro major. i wish i chose another major instead.

Big why do you wish you chose another major instead?
