Is minority status still worth anything in MI?

Proposal 2= Bye, bye Affirmative Action. Is minority status still worth anything?

...not that I needed it, but still. Just curious.

No. as a URM, you'd do better applying to private colleges.

awesome...no more reverse racism against asians and whites

Michigan officials hope to stay with their current policies and procedures for this year.

President Mary Sue Coleman writes:

"Today, I have directed our General Counsel to consider every legal option available to us."

"In the short term, we will seek confirmation from the courts to complete this year’s admissions cycle under our current guidelines. We believe we have the right, indeed the obligation, to complete this process using our existing policies. It would be unfair and wrong for us to review students’ applications using two sets of criteria, and we will ask the courts to affirm that we may finish this process using the policies we currently have in place."

Also, Prop 2 won't go into effect till 45 days after Nov 7th. So as of today it's AA still works.

Even though I am aware of the racial disparities in America, I think it would be better to kick AA.

Knowing how a lot of folks in Ann Arbor think affirmative action = anti-racism = diversity, I wonder if they will ever fully comply with Prop 2. They think complying with Prop 2 is just about the same as being a card-carrying member of the Klan, so they will do everything to avoid complying. So apply.
