i joined the club but did nothing in it.

Then it's not worth putting down, for anything, really.

But if I joined, may as well get credit. Better than having nothing under the debate section. But is MOdel UN considered a debate?!?!

lol what is this MUN i keep hearing about XD

If you joined model UN and don't know whether or not it's about debating, then I don't think it's even worth it to put on your college app. sorry

Model UN is not debate.

Also, I agree with laststopforme - if you don't even know what MUN is about, it's pretty clear you weren't very involved in it. I wouldn't even bother putting it on my app.

(I imagine a funny scenario where the interviewer asks you about your involvement in MUN and you just stare blankly, lol...) :p

MUN is just speeches i think. If you did nothing, but have nothing else, i guess you should put it down.

Why are you so preoccupied whether or not it's debate anyways?

If you really did debate, BELIEVE me, you would know it!

you should be able to judge for urself.

In America MUN is not Debate. In Asia and Europe it is. It is a scholastic sport which is extremely meaningful. I know, I was top delegate in the largest conference in Africa+MiddleEast+West Asia.

MUN is about caucusing. Not debate. Americans must understand that. That is why they suck at MUN and never get anything in THIMUN.

im putting it down anyway!!

That's your choice, but remember, a laundry list of club memberships isn't going to help you at all - anyone can join 100 clubs, colleges only care about them if you really got involved. =/

You know how can put down leadership positions for your ECs? People who are REALLY involved in MUN might have Secretary General of a conference, President of General Assembly at THIMUN, Ambassador at NAIMUN or, you know, something that shows the admissions people that they put lots of time into MUN to get those positions.

@ Crackerjacks: that's not completely true; I've been to THIMUN twice and both times, I've worked with American delegates who've done well. Though I do think some of the best delegates come out of the Australian/New Zealand delegations; because they're selected nationally, they only send the best in the country.
