Is my 3,497 word essay too long for the common app?

just kidding!

You're fine as long as it's under 3,500 words and they all count. Some of the best masterpieces of literature, such as the Communist Manifesto and your essay, are very long.

Ironic how Karl Marks is advocating the Communist Manifesto.. =)

And the Common App only allows 6k characters, so unless your essay is made up of one-character words and spaces, it's not gonna fit..

No no no. You need to keep it below like 3450. That is as high as I'd go and only if you cannot eliminate a single word.

the thread title was ALMOST believable

sorry, you over did it

YOu can write that much on the common app? I'm using my school's app and I'm limited to 500 words.

If you get it bound in leather you will be ok!

pretty funny this thread was moved to the essay forum...

You will definitely impress your admission officer, if you can write such a long essay for your application. Hope your essay is still coherent when it fits character limit. You will get into all school you want, man!

u kno what? My essay didn't fit in the box, it was way beyond 6000 characters, mine was 950 words , i had to use the additional information box but I got in (ED)

this whole admission process is part luck

collegegirlee,
which college did you get in?

3497 words or characters?

Ha ha. I actually thought that this thread was a genuine question when I first saw the title :P

I got into Mount Holyoke, davincicodes .
