The ACT and SAT are subjective tests, rather than cognitive ones. Basically they are verifying that you know what a high school student should know. There is no advantage to taking it this early. You want to take it the Spring semester of Jr year so you benefit from the cirriculum knowledge you have completed, then leave enough time to take it again if necessary before the start of Sr year.

The only reason I can think of to take it early is if you plan on going to collete early. If you really are scoring this high on a subjective test in 7th grade then, from an academic perspective, you are wasting your time in high school. Consider graduating early, concurrent enrollment, or getting admitted without your diploma.

It’s rather early for you to be planning your college acceptances, especially at Harvard. Also, even if you ultimately receive an amazing SAT score come high school, it is certainly not guaranteed you will get into Harvard (or any Ivy, not to discourage you). These schools are fiercely competitive and want a student that stands out in many ways to bring life to their campus, not simply a perfect standardized test score.

I got a 1940 in 7th grade, and then 330 points higher in sophomore year.
so definitely, OP has a shot at Harvard…but honestly, there’s no reason to obsess over college admissions. From what I’ve seen, a lot of it is luck; maybe your interviewer might just happen to bond with you really well, or maybe the person reviewing your application likes a particular extracurricular over another person’s equally impressive EC. If you try too hard for too long to get into Harvard (or any other top-tier school), you’re going to more likely than not come off as a resume-builder and a no-lifer, which is precisely not what colleges want to see; they want to see that you’re well-rounded, have passions, and are involved in both the school and the community at large. Very difficult stuff to do.

Thanks for all replys, but just to clarify i know it gets deleted. What i wanted to know is what you guys got and what i should expect to get later. Also, i do play sports. I just also care about my future. Thanks all

It’ up to you to achive the goal you set for yourself. Frankly, it’s too early to worry about your SAT scores in 11th grade. However, if you are interested, have the motivation, and is consistant, you can learn a lot from CCs. Not just how to get high scores, but how to be competitive overall. At the end, it’s up to you to put in the effort and make it happen.

Those scores mean nothing. “Will I still get into Harvard?” can never be answered until you get your letter of admission back. And, in case you haven’t realized, colleges dont look at those scores.

Dont let any early scores bring you down. I took a practice ACT my Sophmore year, and scored the equivalent of something in the low twenties I believe, and my “predicted” ACT score was around a 26. I scored a 32 on my first test, and am expecting to raise it on my latest one.

I find this thread extremely ironic because I am one of those people who got 2100+ and 30+'s in 7th grade. And guess what? Your scores are canceled in a year when you’re only a 7th grader, so that scary Harvard admission committee will never know your 7th grade scores, unless you send the paper report that you received in the mail. Who knows, you may accidentally on purposely lose it by the time you’re a senior.

Well, yes and no. They are automatically tossed each June if you are younger than thirteen when taking the SAT. You may submit a request to have them retained, though.

If you are thirteen or older, the scores remain on your record, but colleges are not going to reject you over seventh-grade test scores.

Yeah I got an 1880 on the SAT (700 M 590 CR 590 W) in 7th Grade and I was able to get 2340 (800 M 780 CR 760 W) when I took it in high school so you will probably do well.

1660 composite for SAT in 7th grade. I think it’s pretty great, but not amazing. I got a 1760 when I was in 7th, and I wasn’t super-pleased with myself. However, everyone else around me seemed to think it was just amazing. Anyways, congratulations on your high score.

Your 7th grade SAT is really not a good predictor of your 11th/12th grade score. I think that you sound perfectly capable of getting into a top/Ivy League school, but you’ll need to work extremely hard.

You need a few things:
Amazing/great grades in the most challenging classes
Extracurricular/community service involvement, leadership positions
Great SAT or ACT scores

OR if you have a fabulous “hidden talent” in a sport, an art, etc. you can usually get in to a great school with that.

But if you’re not extremely talented in some unique/different way, you’ll need to get in through the “well-rounded” path, or the 1/2/3 I have illustrated up above, lol :)

To conclude…

1) SAT scores do not make up some holy entity that will get you into a great school. Admission to top schools is earned through being well-rounded. SAT scores are not everything.
2) Your 7th grade score is really NO predictor of how you will do in 11th/12th. Work hard and pay attention in class and you should do great.
3) Congratulations on your score.

Why is OP worrying about SAT in 7th grade when it won’t count towards his admission… he has plenty of time (considering he’s still in 9th grade atm) to improve and has scored better than even some juniors/seniors…

Your score is great, but between now and grade 11 and 12, you can improve SO MUCH. You could easily score over 2000 in grade 11 if you stick with it, so stick with it!

There’s no need for you to settle for your 7th grade score. when your application to Harvard COULD have a much higher score. It’s not the only part of the application, but a high SAT score will greatly improve your chances.
