Is my ACT math score too low?? please help!

Hi, I have been working very hard on my Georgia Tech application for quite some time now and I feel as though all my hard work will be in vain. My ACT Math score is a lowly 25 :( do I still stand a chance of admittance into their engineering school? My English and Writing scores are 35 though but will that really change anything? Please help I'm very nervous and I've worked harder on this application than any others.

Yes, that is a little low for the average Georgia Tech applicant, but don’t count yourself out of the running just yet!

Georgia Tech will take everything into consideration when looking at your application. This includes your GPA and extracurricular activities. I was in a similar situation as you when I applied to Georgia Tech. My SAT verbal/writing scores were in the bottom 25% quartile of applicants, but my GPA was rather high. I figure they took my GPA into consideration since I was accepted back in 2009.

Have you taken or considered taking the SAT? Some people do better on it than the ACT.

I have a 3.7 GPA is that any good? And I did took the sat and did terrible :(. I don’t get it I have straight A’s in all oft math subjects since 7th grade but I did so bad on act/sat math. I am ranked 2nd in my class though does that help? Also one more thing does it matter where I’m from? I’m from Arkansas and we’re not really known for having the best and brightest students. Anyway, thanks for the help.

Your message will not win you any friends in Arkansas!! I don’t think the adm office considers being from Arkansas a handicap, either. Did you take any of the test prep classes? They actually help with test-taking techniques if you have the math skills (all A’s since 7th grade.) Math is math wherever you live.
