I got a 3 on BC and a 3 on AB subscore this past May, though I thought I was going to get a 4. Is a 3 good or bad? The university I’m going to attend accepts a 3 as credit and placement into Calc III. Should I really skip calc I and II or retake them again since I got a 3?
Depends on your major. In the end, you might actually end up retaking the course. 3 is passing, but it’s not my personal cup of tea.
Would you mind telling us which college you plan on reporting the score to? A 3 may be good for some colleges but definitely not all.
On an exam where over 40% of people get a 5 your 3 doesn’t look very appealing. From the AP website “3 = qualified…“Qualified” means that you have proven yourself capable of doing the work of an introductory-level course in a particular subject at college” capable of doing the work and actually understanding and being able to apply the concepts learned are two different things and if you plan on doing a major that requires higher math you should not skip the first two calcs.
OP, do not worry about it if you are good at Math. My D2 got a 3 in AP Math AB (no BC) and has straight A’s in Calc I and Calc II at one of the toughest schools in the country (GTECH).
