So I just read this.. "This personal essay helps us to become acquainted with you as a person and student, apart from courses, grades, test scores, and other objective data. "

And I wrote about how I was doing terrible in chemistry, and started to rethink how I learn. Instead of memorizing, I started to visualize and apply. I then took this method and used it in everyday life. I'm worried that I wrote about grades and courses.. Is that ok..?

Yes, if you wrote about how you dealt with your challenge. When Adcoms read your essay, they are ultimately interested in your personality and character. If you tell them about how you persevered to ameliorate your grades in chem or how this “doing terrible in chem” experience allowed you to learn something greater in life (these are examples), then you are on the right track.

Besides, you always have the “Topic of your choice” option.

Cheers and good luck :)
