Is my Gpa good enought for top colleges?

Is 3.9 still in the race to a good college?

4.0= A+
3.8= A
3.6= A-
3.4= B+

and so on...

I am in 9th grade right now and I did bad in certain classes and didn't receive all A+

Can I still get in top colleges like columbia? Thanks for the advice!

You definitely can. A 3.9 GPA will not keep you from getting into top schools.

Thanks for the reinsurance!
I am always worried that I need all A+ to get into a good school plus a 2350 or above on the SAT.

If I have a —
3.9 in senior year, 2350 for SAT,

Wrestling VARSITY and Track VARSITY (Plus placements in the county.

Volunteering hours completed

Clubs Presidents… (FBLA - Future Business Leadership Program)

Summer Programs - Columbia Summer Programs for 2 years in a row.

Red Cross First Aid Licensed, and Driver license

A decent college application with essay

Can I qualify for top colleges?

Forgot, I am Chinese if that makes a difference haha.

You qualify, but once you’re qualified, it’s kind of a pick and choose game.

people with 3.7’s have a decent chance at ivies, of course a 3.9 is good, what are you talking about?

Yeah, that GPA and SAT score sound great. But there’s never a guarantee with the top schools. It’s really important to show these schools that you’re a real, sincere, and passionate person. Don’t just do a lot of activities, but do things you love and use your activities and essay to show what kind of person you are and what makes you unique.

Are you just guessing that you’ll get a 2350 on your SAT? that is very difficult to do.

I think your SAT’s and EC’s matter a lot more than your gpa because college’s are aware of grade inflation.

I suggest you stop projecting your future stats and start working on your current ones.

It’s about rank, not GPA.

I understand that I shouldn’t project the future, i am just setting some goals for myself so I know which direction to take.

Also, my school doesn’t rank and our grades are pretty inflated I guess cause most people get A and A- .

We also have many A.P. courses, I probably will take around 6 A.P.s before I graduate.

Any other good tips?

Thanks for all the thoughtful replies, I appreciate your help very much.

take AP’s and apply early to columbia. keep your GPA at a 3.9 throughout high school. good luck!

Whether or not your school ranks, they give enough info on grade distribution to colleges so they know where you rank. In the end, it’s all about rank.

Though there is a certain amount of randomness in the process, this argument is flawed…the more qualified someone is statistically, the more likely they are to be accepted. OP, if you go to an uncompetitive school, you may be disadvantaged by your GPA, as they will expect you to be at the tippy-top of your class. Nevermind the fact that you just predicted a highly competitive SAT score based on…what? Instinct? Practice tests?

Could you be recruited for your sports?

I guess I am top 5% of my school if I have to rank myself.

I will be taking many APs and I will also try to do well in science research and hopefully place in the nation.

I also do Future Business of America competition and hopefully will win some of those too.

As of sports, I am average above in track and average in wrestling (not likely to get recruited).

But only if table tennis counted as something in the U.S. haha (I am good at that - Nationaly Ranked).

Why u only get a+ why not :female_sign:♪+++++

haha good one!
But seriously… JK
