I just finished the first semester of my sophomore year. So far, my weighted GPA is a 4.1. Is this good? Considering that I haven't taken any AP classes since they're not available for underclassmen?

Class rank? It’s impossible to know where this 4.1 stands without further information. As I said over nine-thousand times in this forums, a 4.1 at one school can make you valedictorian, while a 4.1 at another may not even put you within the top 10%.

The only thing that your weighted GPA counts for is your class rank. So, if your weighted GPA is higher than your peers, then it’s good.

What’s your unweighted? What kind of grades did you actually get?

Keep in mind many schools guys don’t rank anymore. They don’t tell you your rank and don’t mail it out to colleges, not sure if they record it. My school does so to not make a more competitive environment for students.

4.1 is weak. Your skills are inferior.

You’re generalizing. There are many schools that still rank.

And many that don’t. My school only ranks top 10 people, out of 350. No other ranks at all. And we are highly competitive.

OP as others said weighted means little. What matters more are your uwGPA, your AP offerings (context really) and your rank. I assume an A+ at your school is a 4.3 and that you haven’t taken any AP classes, so you are probably good. Anything above 3.9uw is good enough in my book as long as it doesn’t destroy your rank.
