My absolute top school is UCLA.
It's scheduling time again, and I'm picking out classes for my junior year.
Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated! Do you think the rigor of this course load is enough for UCLA?
I've had a 4.0 UW GPA for the past two years.

Junior

AP Lang
AP US History
AP Calc AB / BC (haven't decided)
AP Enviro
Honors Physics
Honors Spanish 3

Senior

AP Lit
AP Gov / Honors Econ (split semesters)
AP Stats
Honors Physiology
Ceramics
Honors / AP Spanish Lang (haven't decided)

In terms of the AP Calc AB/BC on your list, does that mean one in each semester?
What major are you intending to apply to? (Engineering or L&S - I believe HSSEAS prefers to see more science/math oriented classes)
Have you taken any sciences such as AP Bio/AP Chem (or the honors version)?
Also, is there an AP Physics?

It means I will either take Calc AB or Calc BC, I just haven’t decided which one yet.
I intend to apply to L&S. I’m taking AP Bio this year, and I’ve doing pretty well in the class. I took regular chem freshman year though.
There is AP Physics C, but I’m very worried it’ll overwhelm me, especially since it is so math-heavy, and I’m only in regular Precalc this year, although I do have a very high A in it.

The reason I asked about the Calc is because AB meant to be taken before BC. I’m not sure what your school policy is/what they recommend, but generally that’s what happens. However, it would be different if you (for example) took a community college course for Calc I before Calc BC.
In regards to Physics C, I can’t say much since I haven’t taken it (not offered at my school). If it’s based in calculus, you might have some difficulty. Again, I don’t know your background in calc.
And is Ceramics for the art req?

Also – from what I’ve heard, AP Env isn’t all that difficult (but again it isn’t offered at my school so I can’t say much on it).

I’m planning to do some calc review over the summer to prepare for AP Calc, which ever one I decide to take. Most people take either regular Calc or AP Calc BC, so I’m leaning towards BC, partly to try to make up for a lack of AP Physics.
Ceramics is for the art requirement, yes. I would have taken AP Physics in its place, but oh well!
I’m just hoping they don’t see AP Enviro as a “joke” AP, but thanks so much for your input!

AP enviro is NOT a joke AP! I took it last year (junior year) and it’s actually the AP test that gets the most grades of 1 (as of last year). There’s a lot to memorize! So I don’t think UCLA will think bad of you for taking it at all. They just like to see tons of APs with good grades and (if you do well in all of these classes) you have a real good shot at getting in!

Actually our junior years are really similar! I took all of those classes except Spanish (I took French), and I took calc BC. Also I took drama that year haha. Also, calc BC really is a lot to handle, especially if you’re only in pre calc now. You really need a firm foundation in calc AB before you take BC. I recommend taking AB next year and BC senior year instead of statistics. I’m sure they’d prefer to see calc to statistics anyways.
