Is My Schedule Too Much?

1.) AP Physics
2.) AP Chemistry
3.) AP Calculus
4.) AP World
5.) Junior Honors English
6.) Health (every other day/required course)
7.) Gym (every other day)
8.) German III
9.) Programming I

I plan to get a PhD or Doctorate Degree in Chemistry, so I’m really trying to focus on the science aspect of things. I can still drop out of courses at this moment, so I’m taking the time to really think about this.

That does sound like a lot, but not completely unmanageable…Those are some of the most difficult APs.
How many APs does a typical junior take at your school? How rigorous are these classes known to be at your school? How confident do you feel in your ability to grasp the material? All of these factors play a role in whether or not you should continue with this schedule.

Taking 9 courses does seem to be a bit much, especially when nearly half of them are AP’s. I wouldn’t double up on sciences. If your a senior, I’d stick with AP Chem, since you are interested in Chemistry. If not, I’d still drop AP Physics now and take it next year.

Is it AP physics 1 or C?
Have you reached level 3 in a foreign language?

AP Physics 1

What is the rush to take so many AP classes in your Jr year? THAT many hard classes in one year increases your chances of getting lower grades during this most important year.
Spread them out- take one of the AP science classes your SR year.

Personally, I would recommend either taking AP Physics 1 or AP Chemistry in 12th grade instead of 11th grade. I would only recommend taking both of them if you are planning to major in Science and/or want to take AP Biology, AP Physics 2/C, and/or want to take AP Environmental Science. Otherwise, it is probably a good idea to take only one AP Science course.

Have a good day!

4 AP classes is not too many for juniors and seniors however 2 science APs might be tough. Something that I did that worked very well was junior year I took AP chem and physics honors. It’s still doubling science but honors requires much less than AP does. I would do that and then take AP physics senior year if you really enjoy it
