Hi, I am currently a freshman and I will be choosing my classes for next year. Currently I have already planned out my schedule, but I want to know if it is rigorous enough.
The classes are:
Honors Algebra 2
Honors College Prep Chemistry
Honors US History 1
Honors English 2
Honors Pre-Calc
Honors Physics
Public Speaking
PE 2
It’s plenty rigorous. Why exactly are you taking two maths and sciences?
It allows me to take ap calc and AT physics junior year.
What math and science will you take senior year?
It’s definitely rigorous. Not having taken Alg. 2 before Precalc will probably give you some trouble in Precalc - but if this kind of scheduling is common in your school I wouldn’t too much worry about it.
AP biology and, since my school doesn’t offer BC calculus, I will be independently studying it.
Yeah it looks good. Although you might not be allowed to take two maths/sciences because of the pre-requisites. Check for that, and also see if you can take PE online somewhere. If you completed it in one semester you could spend the next semester getting another graduation requirement out of the way.
I am allowed to double up on science and math.
I am taking algebra 2 along with precalc
Would you happen to have block scheduling by any chance? Your schedule looks pretty good. Public Speaking is a definitely a valuable skill to have; I assume the class is sort of like debate. If possible, getting PE out of the way would be a good idea, like praeda said.
These classes should be able to set you up for future classes; however, are you not able to do AP Physics 1/2, without having taken honors? What about AP US History?
How do you take Algebra 2 and Pre-Calc?? At my school, Pre-Calc is kinda just an extension/more advanced version of A2.
No foreign language?
@AemonDaDragonite my school does do block scheduling and you need to take honors physics to take AT physics(technically AP). @Anish14 I will be taking algebra 2 honors first semester then pre-calc honors second semester. @skieurope i already fulfilled my 2 year language requirement this year.
Hopefully you’re not looking at a college that requests more than 2 years then.
@skieurope the school I am most likely to apply to as my main is Carnegie Mellon, and they don’t require 4 years of language.
@Dewzeph Ohh I see, well good luck!
I would recommend 4 years of a language regardless. If you’re looking at Ivies at any point, 4 years would definitely benefit you.
@apandia Would it be ok if I took another 2 years of language at my community college? Right now it wouldn’t fit into my schedule.
@Dewzeph I believe that would be ok.
Yes it would be okay, even better! @Dewzeph
