Is N.J. Governors School worth going to?

How helpful will it be on college applications?

You should post this thread on the Prep School Admissions board. You’ll get more people w prep school experience there

It’s a 3-4 week tuition nd room/board free program @ Drew or Rutgers for NMSF.

A governor’s school is a wonderful use of tax dollars! It’s respected in the academic world. Admission is competitive, and applicants don’t pay.

There are governor’s schools for different areas of interest. If the program sounds interesting and you’re able to go, then do it. You’ll also make friends from all over the state and have an academic/social peer group (especially valuable if your school isn’t overly rigorous).

Thx Woodworker. My sister is being nominated to attend the Governor’s School in the Sciences @ Drew University.

Yes, worth going to, both for the experience and the cache.

bgmargate,
So is my son! Here is to hoping they both get in…

Thx Disney All the best

Yes yes yes! NJ’s gov school is one of the best. My friend went there this past summer - got deferred by Harvard.

My daughter went to Gov School (as the students call it) a few years ago. It is a very well respected program that is quite hard to get accepted into. And she had an absolute blast! I highly recommend applying! Good luck!

I went last year. It was one of the best experiences of my life, and the academics were just wonderful. I met Harvard professors and Nobel Prize laureates.

Is this program for people into Science or are there any humanities topics also?

Governors School is always worth going to. Strong programs, interesting students and a GREAT addition to any student resume.
