Is NKU a good choice?

Hello, I am a junior in high school who is planning on majoring in computer science or computer information technology, with some study in computer forensics (the field I want to go into as a profession). I live in KY, and I stumbled upon NKU (Northern Kentucky University) and was attracted to it because it has a College of Informatics, there are only three of them in the entire country from what I understand. I just want/need some clarification that this is a good school to attend for my field of interest? Another thing to keep in mind is that Computer Forensics isn't an establed field of study because it's relatively new, but NKU offers a minor in it that I could blend perfectly with another computer major. I just want to know if there are any better schools, which ones are they? Don't mention MIT, I have no interest in that school. Thanks!

Bump .

A few very good informatics programs near you worth looking at…

[School of Informatics and Computing: Indiana University Bloomington](http://www.soic.indiana.edu/)

Informatics

Thanks for the links, but is NKU a good choice to go to?

I know nothing about NKU but just about any CS program at a state school is perfectly adequate for jobs in CS. A school like IU or Michigan will have more national employers on campus recruiting students. NKU will probably mostly have KY companies recruiting on campus. the students at IU and Michigan will be from all over the country. NKU will have mostly KY residents.

I just looked at the NKU program online, looks like a solid program to me.

Thanks, for the analysis. It’s more in my price budget so I’ll probably go there for undergrad and somewhere else for graduate school, so thanks a ton for the links to other informatics schools.

What about CS at UK?

UK is my second choice, it’s about 15 miles away from where I live, however the fact that NKU just built their College of Informatics which is centered all around computers, and they boast a computer forensics minor as opposed to CS at UK which only has CS under their engineering college, which to me would seem less specialized. On top of that, they don’t have much that could help me work towards the study of computer forensics outside of just computer science.

Also it’s a very well known school in the Greater Cincinnatti area, so I’m sure there will be job recruiters from Cincinnatti as well which is a plus.
