Is NYU debt worth it?

So i've wanted to go to NYU since I was 12 years old because my mom went there. It's my dream. Because my mom makes $110,000 a year, the financial aid calculator on NYU's website estimates my tuition per year will be around 50,000. My mom will probably pay half, leaving me with $25k per year. Meaning i'll be $100,000 in debt by the time i graduate.

I also plan on going to vet school at Tufts which is around $40,000 per year ($160,000 in debt total).

My other option is to go to Boston U where i would only have to pay $20,000 per year and my mom would cover all of it. Leaving me $0 in debt when I finish my undergrad.

So my question is, is the experience of living in New York and going to NYU worth being almost $300,000 in debt by the time i'm 26 with a job that has an average salary of $82,000 per year?

No school is worth 300k in debt.

Why is this even a question? If you can go to Tufts from BU the same you would from NYU, why in God’s name would you even entertain the prospect of an extra $160,000 worth of debt?

Around $25k total debt for undergrad is generally worth it, but not $100k.

Math is not your strong suit. $300K in debt?

How about go to tufts and take 30 $10,000 vacations to NYC instead?

yes and no, depends how determined you at to use the city to your full advantage. It is more of a preprofessional school than a typical college
