I noticed on the common app there is a separate section for Pacific Islanders and they also asked which region and I said Guam. Do some competitive schools still consider that Asian or not?

It’s a minority. Whether it is a URM wlll depend on the school. How/if they merge groups for statistical purposes also depends on the school.

Guam is a pacific island, so if your ancestry includes indigenous inhabitants of Guam, you could consider yourself a Pacific Islander.

I’d agree with @skieurope. Some schools, perhaps the University of Hawaii, will not consider you an URM. That being said, the majority of schools in the lower 48 will consider you an URM.

YESSSSSSSS!
